WHAT WE DO

We help our patients by optimizing the function of their nervous system. These changes mean more energy, better movement, and a stronger immune system. No one is too young or too old to improve their health, and that is why more and more families are choosing Verus Chiropractic. An optimal functioning spine and nervous system ensures optimal health.

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-invasive, and physiologically compatible healthcare approach based on the truth that the body is self-healing and self-regulating. The spinal column is designed to protect the vital connection between the brain and the body– the spinal cord. As Gonstead practitioners, you can count on us to correct the cause of nervous system interference, i.e- vertebral subluxation.

    Pregnancy & Chiropractic Care

    Is it safe?

We are often asked if Chiropactic care is safe for expecting mothers and the little one inside – the simple answer is YES. Chiropractic is a non-invasive and drug-free health-care option for expecting mothers, before, during and after the many bodily changes that occur during pregnancy.

If you are pregnant, we do not take x-rays.

    Changes to the Spine

As you begin carrying more weight during pregnancy, the uneven weight distribution tends to cause changes to the normal curves in your spine. Commonly, this results in a forward tilt of the pelvis, which puts more pressure on your low back. This also tends to cause rounding of the shoulders and forward head posture. And, needless to say, being pregnant definitely changes the way you walk.

When such changes occur, this most frequently results in low back pain and sciatica. Forward head posture often lead to neck and mid-back pain, and the modified gait often lead to irritation of hip and SI joints.

In addition to the changes mentioned above, most pregnant women experience increased stress and fatigue, immune and digestive issues, as well as increased anxiety. Specific chiropractic care has an excellent track record in providing relief from such symptoms.

The frequency of your visits depend on how early in pregnancy you seek care and how close to due-date you are. We are trained to specifically modify our techniques to care for late term and overdue women.

We would be honored to help you in creating a healthy start for your baby. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask.

If you have been seen by us throughout the pregnancy, your infants first visit will be free.

The benefits of chiropractic care during pregnancy

There are a great amont of benefits both for you and the baby with recieving chiropractic care during pregnancy. The brain and nervous system is what controls the entire body, and while pregnant, it is also controlling your baby’s body.

Your baby benefits from you getting chiropractic care as it can decrease intrauterine constraint and ease your little one’s transition on making its way into life. The better the start the baby has, the less work we’ll have to do after delivery to ensure your infant’s good health.

For you, some of the benefits we see are:

    • Decreased pain in labor
    • Reduced time in labor
    • Greater emotional stability
    • Improved sleep
    • Less intervention during the birthing process
    • Lower incidence of breech positioning
    • Reduced nausea and morningsickness
    • Diminished pain and swelling
    • Enhanced overall well-being
    • Improved posture
    • Relieve pressure on the spine and nerves
    • Reduced tension and pain
    • Improved recovery from labor and delivery
    • Relieveing pressure on the spine and nerves
    • Improve healthy immune and digestive function

    Pediatrics & Chiropractic Care

    Is it safe?

Many people do not like to think about their little loved ones and chiropractic care, mostly because they don’t want anyone or anything to hurt them. Is it safe? Absolutely!

We are specially trained to care for people of all ages, and to modify our technique and pressure depending on the patient. For a newborn or infant, our adjustments would be more gentle, and we would not use more pressure than we would if we were touching a ripe tomato.

There is a great difference between checking and adjusting an infant versus an adult.

    Why chiropractic for children?

The nervous system is what controls every function of the human body. This is no different for children. Even though they can’t talk or always describe what is going on, we have to remember that a subluxation of the spine, or an irritation of the nerve, are not always related to symptoms.

The first two years of life, is when the nervous system and spine doubles in length, so this is an important time to make sure nothing will interfere with that. Getting the right start is the best thing one can do for the future.

    What to expect

To put your child at ease, we involve them in their care. We try to make it fun, and explain what we do in a way they can understand.

Many children are excited to see their chiropractor, because they can feel the difference the adjustments make, and because chiropractic makes sense to them.

Children, and especially infants tend to respond faster than adults, because of the short time they have been exposed to life and everything in this world.

Infants grow and heal very quickly – “It is easier to create a healthy child than to fix a broken adult.”

    What we see

As with adults, every child is different, and so is their care. Children we see do not always have symptoms. Some get checked just to make sure everything functions the way it is supposed to.

These are some of the things we do see and have successfully helped with:

    • Colic and reflux
    • Problems nursing
    • Night Terrors

    • Ear infections
    • Headaches
    • Seizures
    • Sensory disorders
    • Sleep issues
    • Bed wetting
    • Asthma
